Woody’s Outhouse in Downtown Windsor selected to host 2006 DMC Canada DJ Championships Windsor Elimination
Windsor, ON. DMC Canada has chosen Woody's Outhouse, located at 754 Ouellette Avenue in Downtown Windsor, to host the 2006 DMC Canada DJ Championships Windsor Elimination on Tuesday, May 16. The first-place winner of this Elimination will compete at the Canadian Final, to be held at the Elements of Hip-Hop Celebration in Ottawa, from August 4-6, 2006.
The Disco Mix Club (DMC) was founded with the belief that a DJ is a figure of influence and importance within the music community. Founded in 1983 in London, England, DMC began as an exclusive DJ-only remix/mega-mix record subscription service. Today, there are DMC branches in over 30 countries around the world.
DMC began holding internationally-renowned DJ competitions in 1985. Since then, the prestigious DMC World Champion title has been the most sought after by aspiring DJs worldwide. It was not until 1997, when 15-year-old DJ A-Trak, of Montreal, became Canada’s first DMC World Champion.
The DMC DJ Championships play a major part in redefining the role and image of the DJ, giving them the opportunity to create music using only turntables, a mixer and vinyl records. The DMC competitions provide DJs the chance to demonstrate their skills and musical innovation on local, national and international levels, and inspire them to excel.
The winner of the Canadian Final will represent Canada at the 2006 DMC World Championships, to be held in September 9-10, at the Apple Expo in Paris, France.

I found this post off another website. I didn't catch it from the beginning. Anyone agree wit this?

I was invited to the Canada DMC now I know more than half of you DON'T know what the DMC is. (www.dmcworld.com) If you had to compare it with something to get a better pic it would be like the NFL going to the super bowl or yea when the BLAZE battle was on if you won the BLAZE battle you were concider the BEST IN THE WORLD!!! Well ever since ive been DJing Ive Dreamed about just getting to the DMC not just winning but just to get to it was a accomplishment in itself. Well last night a part of my dream came true. let me try to paint an even vivid picture for you the DMC has the BEST OF THE BEST, I mean these cats eat sleep and live this battling, a lot of these cats DON'T HAVE JOBS!! and can practice 12hrs a day (This is real talk!!)
I could Never do that because I have bills and i don't stay at home with Moms so I gotta get in practice when ever i can. So when I got the call to be in the DMC I totally lost it I mean this is what Ive been waiting my whole life for (again this is real talk this means more to me than someone having there first child The DMC is a ONE TIME ONCE A YEAR EVENT!! ) So i went at this head first and they changed to rules of the DMC you get 6 min now instead of 3. I'm like HELL YEA !!! I did the sickest set I have EVER done in a battle in ALL the battles Ive been in. again THIS IS THE DMC you HAVE to put it all on the line there's NO tomorrow it's like the NCAA you lose you go home. What sucked was I had to go 2nd and then another thing is that the way they had the turntables set up it's like I'm djing standing on a milkcrate and I'm turntables are at my feet I'm 6 1 so you can imagine how awkward this is BUT Ive been waiting my whole life for this so I DON'T CARE!!! There were 11 dj's i made 12 i gets on I had the crowd going so crazy (*note this) *EVEN THE JUDGES were going crazy!!! When the night started going on and the dj's were doing there thing i started to get a little nerves because I'm like "I CAN'T BELIEVE IM MY BE GOING TO THE WORLD FINALS" this my just happen. The last DJ goes up he does his set I'm like OK he's good but i got him he only did "Beat juggles" THAT'S IT!! no scratching,NOTHING LIKE THAT just beat juggles. I'm like I GOT HIM. so finslay at 1am they started to announce the winners they said in 3rd place some guy I'm like OK heart started beatting even more then they said 2nd place P-DOG THE TURNTABLE BULLY My hart just dropped and that was the first time i was piss to hear my name called. the crowd was like WTF!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS, I bit my lip walk up there got my little consolation prizes and they gave me the Mic and said did i have something to say and i said "my whole set was dedicated to my Homie PROOF" and I walk off the stage out the club but I couldn't even get to the door with out the whole club saying i got robbed. One cat was like we would rathere have you rep us from Windsor then that dude. I said good look and walk out. i am sooooo pissed right now. because THAT WAS MINE!!! I gave everything I had last night I left it all on the stage and to get robbed like that that stings like hell. to be that close to going to the WORLD FINALS. That hurts like hell. to be up there with LENN SWANN,Q-BERT,X-MEN,SHOT GUN,CRAZE not to say I would have won the whole thing but just to have been there would have met a lot for me to have that under my belt thats all that matter. this is hurting because i don't know if ill EVER get another chance for this but i tell you this the battle in June I feel for anyone who getting in it I'm taking out all my frustrations in this one.
